Vanuatu offers a Real Estate Option (REO) program that allows investors to obtain citizenship through real estate investment. Here are the key details:
Program Overview: The REO program commenced on July 23, 2021. Applicants for citizenship under the REO must invest in a property in a Vanuatu Government Approved Project (VGA Project) in addition to paying the prescribed fees.
Currently, there are four approved VGA Projects:
Minimum Investment: Prospective investors must invest at least USD $200,000 in any of the approved real estate projects by the Vanuatu government.
Tax Implications: Vanuatu does not impose personal income tax or capital gains tax.The country offers a favorable tax environment for investors.
Vanuatu Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Program:
Overview:Vanuatu offers a Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program known as the Development Support Programme (DSP). Applicants can obtain Vanuatu citizenship by making a non-refundable government donation and investing in an approved fund.
Investment Requirements: The main investor must contribute $130,000 to the local development fund. An additional $50,000 is invested in shares of an approved fund, which becomes redeemable after five years.
Processing Time: The processing time for Vanuatu citizenship through investment is relatively fast, with citizenship usually granted within 30-60 days.Due diligence checks are conducted on all applicants to ensure a clear criminal record.
